Today’s match was sponsored by the Mitchell Family in memory of Mr. Peter Mitchell. The game began with a minute’s applause in his honour, setting a respectful tone for the afternoon.

Epsom & Ewell started the game strongly, creating several early chances. Their persistence paid off in the 27th minute when Ali Forahan opened the scoring, giving the home side a 1-0 lead. However, the celebration was short-lived as Berks County responded immediately, equalising just a minute later. The score remained 1-1 at halftime.

The Salts dominated much of the second half, playing confident, attacking football. Their efforts were rewarded when top scorer Carl Oblitey found the net, restoring Epsom & Ewell’s lead. As the match wore on, Berks County’s situation worsened after a reckless tackle on David Romer resulted in a straight red card, reducing them to ten men.

With a numerical advantage, Epsom & Ewell pressed for a third goal, which came in the 87th minute as Ali Forahan struck again, securing a well-deserved 3-1 victory. Forahan’s outstanding performance earned him the Player of the Match award.

This win propels Epsom & Ewell into the next round of the Isuzu FA Vase, where they will play North Greenford United at home on Saturday, November 9th 2024.
