We welcomed Campbell Scott, newly signed from Fleet Town, who started on the bench, while Jack Torbett made his first start at full-back.
Epsom & Ewell began brightly, playing some excellent attacking football, and took the lead in the 10th minute. A superb pass from Carl Oblitey found Ethan Nelson-Roberts, who powered the ball past former Salts goalkeeper Shay Honey to make it 1–0. Shortly after, Kevin Kardel produced a crucial save to deny Abbey what looked like a certain equaliser.
In the 41st minute, another fantastic through ball from Carl Oblitey set up Ali Fofahan, who fired home to double the lead. Just before half-time, Ethan Nelson-Roberts received a harsh yellow card, but the Salts went into the break 2–0 ahead.
Abbey Rangers came out stronger in the second half and pulled a goal back in the 60th minute through substitute Stuart Mortimer. Four minutes later, Scott Campbell replaced Jack Torbett, who had picked up an injury. Abbey continued to apply pressure and committed some tough challenges, earning three yellow cards before Ali Fofahan was booked in the 81st minute.
In the 83rd minute, Ethan Brazier made a welcome return from a long injury layoff, replacing Jason Bloor. The Salts continued to push forward in search of a third goal but ultimately saw out the game to secure a hard-fought 2–1 victory and all three points.
