Our first double of the season, and a great all-round team performance! A couple of changes were made from Saturday’s team, including the welcome return of Ali Fofahan to the starting line-up. New signing Orlando “Rules” Anker started on the bench.
From the outset, it was all the Salts, with some fantastic attacking football. The Salts took the lead in the 37th minute through Ali Fofahan. A superb cross from skipper Adam Green was met by a fine header from Will Kendall that struck the crossbar. The rebound fell to Jason Bloor, whose shot was stopped on the line, but the ball came out to Ali Fofahan, who unleashed an unstoppable strike from 20 yards into the top corner of the net. The Salts went into half-time leading 1–0.
The second half followed a similar pattern: long balls from Camberley and composed, controlled football from the Salts. On 61 minutes, the Salts secured their second goal. A corner from Ali Fofahan landed in the goal area, and after a goalmouth scramble, Jason Bloor reacted quickest to score from close range.
Towards the end, we made three substitutions: Craig Dundas, Luke Miller, and Kalan Reece North replaced Jason Bloor, Conrad Essilfie-Conduah, and Niall Stillwell. The Salts continued to press forward, but no further goals came.
A clean sheet, two well-taken goals, and three points – a perfect evening. Now we look forward to the big one: the FA Vase game on Saturday, at home against Burnham.
