Two wins and a draw in our last three have given us pole position for 2nd place in the league as we enter the last seven matches of our normal league season. With 2nd place comes a home advantage in the playoffs so we must keep our good form as we go into the run-in.
Montpelier Must
Montpelier Villa is in a fight for survival this year along with Seaford Town, Forest Row and Oakwood. As they look to avoid the drop, they will be going into this game with more confidence than before as they beat playoff hopefuls Arudnel 4-2 at home on Tuesday. Before this victory, they had only registered three wins in their ten before, with some heavy defeats against Dorking and Seaford.
With eight games left, they [Montpelier Villa] have a game in hand on their closest rivals Seaford Town and two games in hand on Forest Row, who until recently was the team at the foot of the table. With only two points between Montpelier and Seaford and only three points between them and Forest Row, they could be in for a tight few weeks ahead.
They do have to play Forest Row in their penultimate game of the season on April 8th, so it could come down to that whether they stay at Step Six.
Epsom Form
As stated at the top of the preview, we come into this game with a bit of good form. Now our tough two games against promotion pushers Selsey and Godalming we only have Arundel left to play against a team in the top eight, all of who could still make the playoffs.
With Dorking Wanderers ‘B’ currently sitting in a playoff spot, the play-off spots would then become second to sixth. For home advantage, the top two spots of the playoffs would be the focus for us.
We need your support more than ever as we aim to go one step further than last season!
