We travelled for our 7th away game of the season out of 10 games so far which is a remarkable statistic in itself. Our hosts play on a 3G pitch so our team would need to make some adjustments if they were to bring the 3 points home.
We made a few changes from our last victory with Josh Alder, and Jubril Adamson was promoted from the subs bench to start. There was no Jaevon Dyer due to sickness the day before the match. It was good to welcome back Eldi Baze to the subs bench and Aaron Bogle returned to the centre of the defence.
We began the match brightly and nearly took the lead very early on when a long-range shot from Ryan Smith nearly caught the opposition keeper out, but it just missed the target. The rest of the first half was played in the opposition’s half, but in truth, we created very few chances. HT 0-0
The second half followed the same pattern with us dominating possession but again creating very few chances. However, the best chance of the match thus far was squandered by the Home team after a break midway through the second half. We made several changes to try and break the deadlock but all to no avail, yes we had chances to score but we found the Home keeper in good form so the match finished in a disappointing 0-0 draw.
However, we remain top of the table and have a chance to increase our lead at the top with the rearranged game at Forest Row on Tuesday evening. We then face two games at Home at Fetcham Grove with a game against Seaford Town next Saturday followed by a match against Billingshurst on 29th October.
It would be good to see a few more supporters from Epsom and Ewell along to those games to show their support for the team as we strive to remain at the top of the table. Why not come on down and cheer the team on?
